Robin Gayle Wright, a talented actress, was born in Dallas, Texas, to Gayle Gaston, a national director at Mary Kay, and Freddie Wright, a pharmaceutical executive. Growing up in San Diego, California, Wright's early career began as a model in 1980 at the age of 14, working in Paris and Japan. Upon completing high school, she transitioned to acting, landing a role on the popular soap opera Santa Barbara in 1984. Wright received three Daytime Emmy nominations for her performances on the show.
During her time on Santa Barbara, Wright met fellow cast member Dane Witherspoon, whom she married in 1986. Her breakthrough film role came in 1987 with the iconic film The Princess Bride, in which she played the title character. After leaving Santa Barbara, Wright starred alongside Jason Patric in the film Denial in 1990. That same year, she appeared in State of Grace, where she met actor Sean Penn, with whom she had two children, Dylan Frances and Hopper Jack.
Wright took a hiatus from acting before returning to Hollywood with a standout performance in The Playboys in 1992. She then appeared alongside Robin Williams in Toys and gave a memorable comedic performance. Wright's next notable role came in 1994 when she starred as Jenny in the blockbuster film Forrest Gump, earning a Golden Globe Award nomination for her performance. She went on to appear in The Crossing Guard, starring alongside Jack Nicholson, before taking on the title role in Moll Flanders, directed by Pen Densham and co-starring Morgan Freeman and Stockard Channing. Wright's subsequent film roles included Loved, opposite William Hurt.
