Upon his return to Colón, Villalaz dedicated himself to the family business, serving as its administrator for an impressive ten-year tenure. However, his entrepreneurial spirit eventually led him to bid farewell to the corporate world at the tender age of 33, allowing him to indulge in his true passion for the arts.
As a visual artist, Villalaz's creations garnered widespread acclaim, both within Panamá and beyond its borders. His remarkable exhibitions showcased his unique style, captivating audiences and solidifying his reputation as a master of his craft.

However, the tumultuous political climate of Panamá during the 1980s proved to be a turning point in Villalaz's life. In reaction to the oppressive regime of dictator Manuel Antonio Noriega, he made the courageous decision to leave his homeland and seek refuge in the United States.
In his new adopted home, Villalaz continued to flourish, both in front of and behind the camera. He worked tirelessly in the film and television industries, leaving an indelible mark on the creative landscape. Even to this day, Villalaz calls the United States his home, a testament to his unwavering determination and resilience in the face of adversity.
