Saraya Jade Bevis, a renowned English professional wrestler and actress, was born on August 17, 1992. Currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW),she boasts an impressive wrestling career, having held multiple championships. Notably, she is a two-time WWE Divas Champion and the inaugural NXT Women's Champion, the only individual to have held both titles concurrently.
Bevis' journey in the wrestling world began at the tender age of 13, when she made her debut in the World Association of Wrestling, a family-run promotion, under the ring name Britani Knight. She went on to claim several championships on independent circuits across Europe. In 2011, she signed a contract with WWE and started wrestling as Paige within its developmental systems. Eventually, she made her main roster debut in April 2014, winning the Divas Championship in her first match, a feat that earned her a place in WWE history as the second woman to achieve this milestone and the youngest champion in the title's history at the age of 21.
Born and raised in Norwich, Norfolk, Saraya is the daughter of professional wrestlers Ian Bevis and Julia Hamer-Bevis, who unwittingly wrestled while she was seven months in the womb. As a child, she was initially intimidated by the thought of wrestling due to the injuries her family suffered and the concept of her parents engaging in physical combat for a living. She had initially aspired to become a zoologist. However, around the age of 10 or 11, her father began running a wrestling training school every month, and she took advantage of this opportunity to occasionally step into the ring, where her brothers taught her the basics of wrestling. She continued to do so until the age of 13, when she officially embarked on her wrestling career.
At 15, Bevis worked as a bouncer and bartender at her parents' bar while they were away. She attended The Hewett School in Norwich, graduating in 2008.
