Sean Huze, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, served as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps from 2001 to 2005 with the Second Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. He deployed to Kuwait on February 6, 2003, with his unit, staging just south of the Iraqi border in preparation for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sean's unit, led by then Lieutenant Colonel Eddie Ray, played a pivotal role in the invasion, earning the nickname "Destroyers" after the enemy Iraqi forces dubbed them as such. They fought in numerous combat engagements in Diwaniyah, Baghdad, Al Kut, and Tikrit, following their successful battle in Nasiriyah, where they decimated Iraqi forces and eliminated reinforcements from Al Kut in the dawn-to-dusk engagement known as The Battle of the Coil.
During his enlistment, Sean received several medals and citations, including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, which was awarded for his "courage and self-sacrifice throughout sustained combat operations." He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps on March 7, 2005.
After his military service, Sean pursued a career in the arts, authoring the critically acclaimed play "The Sandstorm: Stories from the Front," which premiered at the Elephant Asylum Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on March 17, 2005. The play went on to have successful limited engagements, East Coast and European premieres, and was well-received by audiences and critics alike.
Sean's subsequent plays, "Weasel" and "The Wolf," also received critical acclaim, with "The Wolf" tackling the issue of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) brought on by combat in Iraq. His notable film roles include Captain Jim Osher in "In the Valley of Elah" (2007),Conway in "Green Zone" (2010),and Barney (Prison Guard) in "The Next Three Days" (2010).
Today, Sean continues to work as a producer, writer for stage and film, military script consultant, and actor. He is the CEO and President of Sandstorm Productions, Inc., located at the Celtic Media Centre in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
