Sean Masterson is a multi-faceted improvisational actor and comedian who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Sean moved to Chicago after high school to pursue his dreams of becoming a comedian.
Sean's big break came when he was hired by The Second City, where he worked alongside some of the biggest names in comedy, including Mike Myers, Steve Carell, and Bonnie Hunt. He quickly became a regular performer at The Second City, honing his improv skills and developing his unique comedic style.
After returning to Los Angeles, Sean began working with Ryan Stiles and Drew Carey, performing live improvisational comedy as part of "The Improv AllStars". The Improv AllStars is a group of talented comedians who have all worked at The Second City, The Groundlings, Whose Line Is It Anyway, and The Drew Carey Show. The group has toured the world and has been a recurring favorite at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for over a decade.
In addition to his work with The Improv AllStars, Sean has appeared in dozens of episodic television shows and feature films. He has had the privilege of working with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Christopher Guest, Barry Levinson, John Landis, and Jim Henson.
Sean is also a talented writer and creator, and has written and produced several web shows. His most popular web show, "Home Purchasing Club" (HPC),ran for two seasons and featured the comedy talents of Kristen Wiig, Jeff Garlin, Diedrich Bader, and David Koechner. HPC was praised by TV Guide and received a "cheers" from the publication.
Sean's next project was "Republicrats", a web show he created, wrote, and directed for MSN (Microsoft). The show follows a former Fresno TV weatherman who decides to run for President of the United States, and features the comedic talents of Gary Anthony Williams, Janet Varney, and Beth Dover. "Republicrats" was praised by The Wall Street Journal, The Hollywood Reporter, and TV Week, and was named one of the top web shows of the year.
Sean has also teamed up with his long-time collaborator Ryan Stiles to write and produce a half-hour comedy pilot called "Memory Lanes" for the CBC in Canada.
Sean and his family split their time between Los Angeles and Canada, where they enjoy the great outdoors and the vibrant arts and culture scene.
