Seo Ju-hyun, professionally known as Seohyun, is a multifaceted South Korean artist, renowned for her versatility as a singer, actress, model, songwriter, and presenter. She is a prominent member of the iconic South Korean girl group Girls' Generation, as well as the leader of its subgroup TTS.
Born on June 28, 1991, in Seoul, South Korea, Seohyun is the only child of her family. Her mother, a chairman at a piano school, played a significant role in nurturing Seohyun's musical talents from a young age. Seohyun was taught to play the piano, violin, and traditional Korean drums, and also learned horseback riding and skating as a child.
Despite her parents not encouraging her to pursue a career in show business, Seohyun credits them with helping her choose her path by allowing her to explore various interests. As a fifth grader, Seohyun was discovered by a talent scout while riding a subway train, and subsequently auditioned for S.M. Entertainment, where she was accepted as a trainee.
Seohyun's inspirations to become a singer were BoA, S.E.S, and Fin.K.L, whom she admired for their ability to convey emotions through music. She made her official debut as the youngest member of Girls' Generation in August 2007, and the group's hit single "Gee" in 2009 catapulted them to widespread popularity. In a 2011 interview, Seohyun fondly recalled her training days as "happy and heartwarming" memories.
