A Lion Returns, his sophomore feature, was released in 2020 and received widespread critical acclaim, earning a spot on the Top 10 Australian films of the year lists by The Guardian, The Australian, Flicks, and Filmink Magazine. Moreover, it secured AACTA and ADG nominations.
Serhat's directorial feature film debut, Cedar Boys, premiered in 2009 and was met with international acclaim, being accepted into six prominent film festivals. The film won the Audience Award at the Sydney International Film Festival and received nominations from the Australian Directors Guild (ADG),Australian Writers Guild (AWG),AACTA (AFI),and IF Award (Inside Film Magazine, Australia).
Serhat's academic background is marked by excellence, having graduated with awards from the prestigious Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in directing. His previous short films have been showcased at over 40 film festivals, racking up numerous prizes and accolades.
In addition to his filmmaking pursuits, Serhat is a trained actor, having studied acting, performing arts, and drama at TAPS in Sydney, UWS Nepean, and Actors Centre Australia.
