Person Biography:
Sharron Matthews is a Canadian artist, actress, singer, comedienne, writer, and producer. She is an award-winning performer who has worked on stage and screen with renowned artists like John Travolta, Andrea Martin, and Ron Howard. Matthews has a diverse range of credits, including her portrayal of "Joan The Secretary" in Tina Fey's Mean Girls, her role as Nurse Cheri Landry in the Apple+ limited series Five Days at Memorial, and her work as Lucy LaFontaine on the Family Channel's Ruby and the Well.
Matthews has also had a successful career in television, starring in the CBC period crime drama Frankie Drake Mysteries for four seasons and earning two Canadian Screen Award nominations for her performances. She has also co-created, executive produced, and written for the animated series Mary and Flo on the Go!, which won the award for Best Animated Content at the 2022 TOWebFest.
On the stage, Matthews has toured her award-winning one-woman shows around the world, performing in Africa, New York, Scotland, and beyond. She has also worked in musical theatre, touring in Les Misérables and Harold Prince's Showboat, and recording the soundtrack for Disney's The Music Man. Matthews has released her own album, Party Girl, and has sung backup on Jann Arden's award-winning Christmas album.
In addition to her work in the entertainment industry, Matthews is a passionate advocate for children's issues and has developed a Cabaret for Kids, which explores topics like body positivity, childhood anxiety, and bullying. Her work on this project was nominated for several awards at the 2018 Dora Mavor Moore Awards.
Matthews has written essays and articles for publications around the world and has completed her first book, Hello Charlie, which was optioned by Shaftesbury. She is a member of several professional organizations, including ACTRA, Canadian Actor's Equity, the Writer's Guild of Canada, and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
