Shawn Thompson is a multifaceted individual, boasting an impressive array of accomplishments as an Award Winning Director, Writer, Producer, and Editor. In 1994, he founded the independent production company, Mo'z Art Pictures, which has since produced numerous Award Winning Features, Shorts, Music Videos, and Commercials.
Prior to his career in film and television, Shawn began his journey as an actor and musician in New York City. He eventually relocated to Los Angeles to star in the Aaron Spelling television series, "The Heights". During this time, he received a Gold Record for his work as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist on the hit soundtrack and single, "How Do You Talk to an Angel", which reached #1 on the Billboard Charts.
In 2000, Shawn wrote the feature film "Four Dogs Playing Poker", starring Forest Whitaker, Tim Curry, and Balthazar Getty. Concurrently, he wrote episodes for the television series "Redwall". Following this, he went on to edit and write for several films and television shows, before joining Visionaire Media in 2007 to edit the critically acclaimed documentary series "On the Road in America". He also won several awards, including the Audience Choice "Best Short Film" in the Beverly Hills Film Festival (2003) for his black comedy, "Shotgun Wedding".
In 2009, Shawn produced, directed, and edited the powerful documentary "Life After Death", which won numerous Awards on the festival circuit. From 2011 to 2012, he served as Editor, Producer, and Post Production supervisor on the second and third seasons of "On the Road in America", as well as editing the cult classic "Mega Python Vs. Gatoroid", a feature film for SyFy Channel directed by Mary Lambert.
Between 2014 and 2015, Shawn directed and edited the feature documentary "Yemeniettes", the reality series "Generation Entrepeneur", and the short film "Angel Road" (available on Amazon Prime),winning dozens of awards on the festival circuit. He is also the Co-Director and Editor for the Award Winning documentary "American Caravan". His film "The State of Assyria" won the 2015 Golden Palm Award at the Beverly Hills film festival.
As of 2020, Shawn's projects include "Confessions of a Runner" (Editor, Executive Producer),"Daughters of Darkness" (Editor),"Confessions from the War" (co-Director/Editor),"Project Soar" (Editor),"Believe", and "The Yulia Tymoshenko Story" (co-Director, Producer, Editor).
