Simon Rhee is a renowned martial artist, holding a 7th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 4th Degree Black Belt in Hap Ki Do. He is a multiple-time Grand Champion of the tournament circuit, known for his exquisite kicks and impressive forms. Karate Illustrated has praised his techniques as the "prettiest kicks, most flashiest and picturesque Martial Arts techniques in the nation".
Born in San Jose, California in 1957, Simon spent his childhood in Seoul, Korea, where he began his martial arts training. After contracting meningitis as a young child, his parents enrolled him in Tae Kwon Do classes to strengthen his body, thus starting his lifelong passion for the art.
Throughout his career, Simon has earned extensive training in Wing Chung Kung Fu, Weapons, and other martial arts. He has been sought out by major motion picture studios and celebrities for his talent in instruction, stunt coordination, and fight choreography.
Simon has worked with numerous Hollywood actors, musicians, and directors, including Clint Eastwood, Leonardo DiCaprio, Anthony Hopkins, Jackie Chan, Madonna, Ben Stiller, Ang Lee, Christopher Nolan, John Woo, Brett Ratner, and Tom Cruise. He has also doubled Jackie Chan and has been involved in the film and television industry for over 30 years as an actor, stunt person, fight choreographer, 2nd unit director, and stunt coordinator.
As a member of the International Stunt Association, Simon has won numerous awards, including the Taurus World Stunt Awards and Screen Actors' Guild awards and nominations. He has an extensive body of work, including films such as The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Terminator Genysis, and television shows like Mistresses, Chuck, and Heroes.
When not filming, Simon continues to teach and train at his Woodland Hills TKD Training Center, where he has instructed thousands of men, women, and children in the art of Tae Kwon Do for over 30 years. He is a teacher's teacher and has given dynamic seminars to martial artists, stunt people, and black belt instructors worldwide.
