Stacy Chbosky is a multifaceted creative individual, renowned for her impressive body of work in the entertainment industry, as well as her literary accomplishments.
At a remarkably young age of 14, Stacy penned and illustrated the award-winning children's book "Who Owns the Sun?", which has remained in print to this day. The book's success led to its adaptation into a short film by Disney Educational and a ballet production by Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, narrated by the esteemed James Earl Jones.
In 1991, Stacy's exceptional academic achievements earned her a spot on USA Today's list of the 20 "Best and Brightest High School Seniors" in the country. Following her graduation as Valedictorian from Upper St. Clair High School, Stacy pursued a degree in musical theater at Carnegie Mellon University, where she received her BFA in 1995.
Throughout her career, Stacy has frequently collaborated with her husband, John Erick Dowdle, and brother-in-law, Drew Dowdle. Prior to transitioning from acting to writing, the Brothers Dowdle had the distinction of killing Stacy's character in five different movies across four films.
As of 2023, Stacy, John, and Drew host the popular podcast "The Showrunner Show" and are currently developing a true-crime limited series for Hulu. In her personal life, Stacy is the sister of acclaimed filmmaker Stephen Chbosky and is married to John, with whom she has two children. The family resides in Los Angeles.
