Stefanée Martin, an American actress, hails from Washington, D.C. Her early life was marked by a passion for the performing arts, which led her to enroll in the Visual and Performing Arts program for Theater at Suitland High School and the Studio Theater in Washington, D.C. during her teenage years.
As a young artist, Stefanée's first professional acting role was in Kia Corthron's "Breath, Boom" at the Studio Theater, under the direction of Rahaleh Nassri. She further honed her craft at Temple University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater, and later at the American Conservatory Theater, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting.
Stefanée's most notable role to date is that of Yolanda Kipling, a charismatic and street-smart young woman, in Baz Luhrmann's two-part Netflix original series, The Get Down. Throughout her career, she has appeared in numerous theater productions, made guest appearances in various television series, and made her film debut in the indie feature thriller "Skin in the Game," playing Violet, a soft-hearted youth grappling with a vital life-choice.
