Stefanie Powers is a renowned actress, dancer, and conservationist who has had a long and illustrious career spanning over six decades. Born into a family of artists, Powers began her career as a teenager dancing for the Michele Paniaff Ballet Company and Jerome Robbins.
At the age of 16, she was put under contract to Columbia Pictures, where she made 15 motion pictures and was loaned to United Artists for the John Wayne production of [error]. Her contract was later bought by MGM Television, which presented her as The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. in 1966.
Throughout her career, Powers has made over 200 guest appearances on television, including 18 mini-series and 2 weekly series, The Feather and Father Gang and Hart to Hart. She has also appeared on the stage, beginning with the 1964 production of "Under the Yum Yum Tree" in San Francisco, which ran for 12 years.
Powers has appeared on and off Broadway in musical shows and tributes, and has performed in the West End in the musicals "Matador" and "Love Letters". She has also appeared on the British stage in productions of "The King and I", "The Adjustment", and "84 Charing Cross Road".
In addition to her stage work, Powers has appeared in numerous films, including "Annie Get Your Gun", "Oliver", "Applause", "Sunset Boulevard", and "Gotta Dance", directed by Jerry Mitchell. In 2018, she appeared in the film "The Artist's Wife", alongside Lena Olin and Bruce Dern, and reprised her role in a revival of "84 Charing Cross Road" in London.
Powers is also a dedicated conservationist and the creator of the William Holden Wildlife Foundation, which was formed after the death of her long-time life partner William Holden. She has received numerous fellowships and awards for her tireless work in conservation and is a faculty member of the Oxford Literary Festival at Christ Church College at Oxford.
In addition to her work in conservation, Powers has been involved in various other ventures, including serving on the boards of four zoos in North America and as an independent board member of a cluster of three mutual funds that are part of the American Funds, one of the largest mutual fund families in the world.
Powers has also been recognized for her work as a writer, being nominated for her script of "Family Secrets" and receiving five Emmy nominations for her acting roles and a People's Choice Award. She currently resides in Los Angeles, London, and Kenya.
