Stephen Malkmus, a renowned musician, spent his formative years in Stockton, California, where he initially crossed paths with Scott Kannberg, with whom he would later co-found the influential indie-rock band Pavement.
As the 1980s unfolded, Stephen pursued higher education at the University of Virginia, where he encountered Bob Nastanovich and David Berman, with whom he would eventually collaborate to form the Silver Jews. Notably, Nastanovich would later join Pavement, further solidifying the musical bond between the individuals.
In 1991, Pavement released the critically acclaimed album "Slanted and Enchanted", widely regarded as one of the greatest indie-rock records in history. This milestone was followed by a string of successful albums, including 1994's "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain", 1995's "Wowee Zowee", and 1997's "Brighten the Corners". Prior Pavement material was compiled and released on the album "Westing", providing a comprehensive overview of the band's early work.
