Steve's illustrious career in comedy began with a humble start as a stand-up comedian, before rising to fame as the charismatic lounge cabaret performer, Lenny Beige. This iconic character's popularity was cemented through two BBC TV series and a Channel 4 show, titled Lenny Beige's Variety Pack, which premiered in 2000. As Lenny Beige, Steve developed a knack for crafting captivating solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival, showcasing his impressive range and versatility.
However, it was his work in the Orange Wednesday cinema commercials that truly solidified his status as a household name. Directed by the acclaimed Bryan Buckley, these commercials featured an impressive array of A-list celebrities, including Snoop Dogg, Carrie Fisher, Patrick Swayze, Angelica Huston, and Spike Lee. With a total of around 30 commercials under his belt, Steve's talent and adaptability shone through in each and every one.
In addition to his work as Lenny Beige and in the Orange Wednesday commercials, Steve has also made significant contributions to various television shows. As a regular supporting actor, he appeared in all three series of the beloved British comedy, Little Britain, alongside Matt Lucas and David Walliams. He has also made notable appearances in numerous other TV programs, including Holby City, Doc Martin, Toast of London, Friday Night Dinner, and most recently, the villainous role in CITV's new kids show, Spy School.
