Noted singer, composer, actor, and author, Steve Lawrence, received his education at Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, where he honed his skills in saxophone and piano. Prior to pursuing a career in entertainment, Lawrence served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, during which time he was a vocalist with the US Army Band and Orchestra stationed in Fort Myers, Virginia.
