Growing up, Steven was a talented singer, multi-instrumentalist, and athlete. He pursued a classical arts education at the University of California Santa Cruz, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Composition, Operatic Performance, and Theater.

Steven then continued his education at Harvard University, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the American Repertory Theater Institute. During his time at Harvard, he appeared in several theatrical productions, including the rock adaptation of the Greek classic "Prometheus Bound" and the original workshop of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "Once."

He also had the opportunity to live, perform, and train at the Moscow Art Theater, where he studied Stanislavsky's method and immersed himself in the vibrant Russian theater culture.

After completing his education, Steven moved to Los Angeles, where he landed a series regular role in the pilot "Hallowed Halls" and made guest appearances on the CW's "Hart of Dixie," ABC's "Notorious," and Lifetime's "Nightmare Nurse." He also performed on stage in Robert Wilson and Tom Waits' adaptation of "Woyzeck" and "Grey Gardens" directed by Michael Wilson.

In 2017, Steven made his Broadway debut in Jimmy Buffett's "Escape to Margaritaville" and went on to play Doctor Pomatter in Sara Bareilles' Tony-nominated Broadway musical, "Waitress." He also recurred as "Rob Davis" on an eight-episode arc in the seventh season of "Younger" and guest-starred on "The Blacklist."

Since becoming a father, Steven has returned to California, where he continues to perform in film, television, theater, and bedtime routines.
