Steven Vasquez is a multifaceted creative force, exceling as a producer, director, cinematographer, and editor. His filmography boasts notable titles such as Sideline Secrets (2008),Triple Crossed (2013),and Eroddity(s) (2015).
Born in Anaheim, California, to Mike and Hope Vasquez, Steven's early passions included constructing homemade haunted houses, frequenting Disneyland, and creating home movies. While film was his true love, he never harbored aspirations of a Hollywood career. Instead, his dream was to produce low-budget films in his local community, potentially garnering a small but dedicated following.
However, life had other plans. Steven went on to work at AT&T to support his growing family, a career that spanned 12 years. It wasn't until his early thirties, when he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, that his life took a dramatic turn. Unable to work, his doctor encouraged him to pursue filmmaking as a therapeutic outlet. Over the course of a year and a half, Steven created his first short film, Rose and Alexander, while hospitalized.
The film's success was nothing short of remarkable. It was selected for a festival, where Steven won both Best Short Film and Best Director awards. More importantly, he formed a lasting bond with Laura Reilly, the film's lead actress, who became his muse and guiding light during a tumultuous period.
Steven has since learned to harness his affliction in a uniquely artistic manner. His dark, often erotic films defy traditional narrative structures, earning him a reputation for bold, unapologetic storytelling. One critic's review of A Siren in the DarK aptly described the film as "a cinematic experience that defies rational explanation, with plot holes so large you could drive a Mack truck through them, but still, you must see this film!"
Steven is a devoted father of four and proud grandfather of one. Although he identifies as gay, he has been faithfully married to his wife Sandra for over 35 years.
Steven's creative partner is Ward Bodner, and together they founded Babaloo Studios, a production company that has given rise to a diverse range of innovative and thought-provoking projects.
