Steven Wouterlood, a talented Dutch director, was born in 1984 in the charming city of Utrecht, a place known for its rich history, cultural landmarks, and vibrant atmosphere. With a passion for storytelling and a keen eye for detail, Wouterlood has made a name for himself in the world of children's television, particularly with his critically acclaimed film "Alles mag" (Anything Goes). This groundbreaking production has earned Wouterlood widespread recognition, including the prestigious International Emmy Kids Award, the coveted Kids Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF),and numerous other esteemed accolades.

Steven's 2016 short film "Koningsdag", also known as "King's Day", achieved a significant milestone by winning the prestigious Kids Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). This outstanding achievement was not limited to the TIFF, as the film also garnered numerous accolades in Qatar, Greece, and India.

Concurrently, Steven collaborated with writer Margien Rogaar on his next creative endeavour, developing the children's television series "Alleen op de wereld", also referred to as "Remi, Nobody's Boy". This captivating series is based on Hector Malot's 1878 novel "Sans famille" and revolves around the extraordinary journey of orphan Remi as he embarks on a quest to find his family.

For his work on this series, Steven received a notable nomination for the Emmy Kids Award, a nomination for the prestigious Prix Jeunesse, and ultimately won the esteemed Dutch prize for best scenario, the Zilveren Krulstaart.

Steven made his feature film debut in 2019 with the cinematic production "Mijn bijzonder rare week met Tess", also known as "My Extraordinary Summer with Tess", which had its world premiere at the prestigious Berlinale film festival. This notable achievement garnered a nomination for the esteemed Crystal Bear award in the category of Best Film. In the same year, Variety Magazine identified Steven as one of the most promising and talented European filmmakers to keep an eye on in the industry. After its premiere, the film was released in various cinemas across Germany and the Netherlands, making it accessible to a broader audience.
