Biography

Sylvie Verheyde's professional journey in the film industry commenced with the creation of her short films, "Entre Chien et Loups" and "La Maison verte", which garnered a multitude of prestigious awards at various film festivals, solidifying her reputation as a talented emerging filmmaker. Building upon her initial success, Verheyde transitioned to feature-length films, taking on the dual roles of writer and director for her inaugural film, "A Brother", which premiered in cinemas in 1997. The film received widespread critical acclaim, earning numerous accolades, including the Cyril Collard Prize in 1998, and catapulting Emma de Caunes to stardom with her César Award for Best Female Newcomer.

Verheyde went on to collaborate with the talented Emma de Caunes in the year 2000, producing the film Princesses, which boasted an impressive cast including the accomplished Jean-Hugues Anglade.

Following this project, Verheyde shifted her focus to the world of television, where she created two remarkable films: Un amour de femme and Sang froid.

Sang froid, in particular, earned Verheyde great recognition when it won an award at the prestigious La Rochelle Festival.

After an extended period of seven years, Verheyde made a triumphant comeback to the world of cinema in the year 2007, taking on the monumental task of crafting the screenplay for the adrenaline-fueled action film Scorpion, starring the talented French actor Clovis Cornillac.

The following year, 2008, marked a significant milestone in Verheyde's career as she stepped behind the director's chair to helm her third feature film, Stella, a poignant and thought-provoking exploration of the daily struggles and triumphs of a young high school student.

Guillaume Depardieu, a renowned French actor, made a lasting impression in the film, delivering a memorable performance that would ultimately serve as one of his final roles before his untimely passing.
