Tanya Allen, a talented actress, was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the year 1975. Her passion for acting began at a young age, and by the time she was just 15 years old, she had already enrolled in the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. This marked the beginning of her professional acting career, which would take her on a journey of guest-starring roles in notable TV series such as "The Outer Limits" and "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues".
As she gained experience, Tanya landed leading roles in several TV movies, earning her nominations for Gemini Awards, the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys. Her portrayal of Del Jordan in the adaptation of Alice Monroe's "Lives of Girls & Women" (1996) and Astrid Kirsh in Bruce Macdonald's "Platinum" (1997) received critical acclaim and recognition.
Tanya's career then took her to England, where she landed the title role in the CBC/BBChistorical drama "Lyddie" (1996). She followed this up with a lead role in the CBC comedy "Newsroom, The" (1996). Her performance as the rebelliously intelligent intern Audrey in the hit series earned her a Gemini Award.
In 1997, Tanya traveled to Scotland to film the British-Canadian First World War drama "Behind the Lines". Over the next five years, she lived in New York and acted almost exclusively in independent films, including "Clutch" with Tom Green, "Wish You Were Dead" (playing Mary Steenburgen's coked-up daughter),and "Fancy Dancing" with Dave Foley and Jason Priestly.
Tanya returned to television in 2001 with the British-Canadian science fiction series "Starhunter". Her role as the emotionally stunted but brilliant 'pace waif', Percy Montana, made her a firm favorite with SF fans all over the world.
