Dory Funk Jr., also known as Terry Funk, boasts a rich wrestling heritage, with his father, Dory Funk Sr., being a renowned grappler from the 1940s to the 1970s. Funk's brother, Dory Funk Jr., pursued a wrestling career from 1963 until the early 1990s, capturing the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) world heavyweight championship in 1969.
Terry Funk himself went on to become an NWA champion, thereby earning the distinction of being the only brother to achieve this feat. Funk made his film debut in the 1978 movie Paradise Alley, playing the role of a wrestler, a nod to his own profession. He continued to work as a professional wrestler and actor/stuntman, appearing in notable films such as Road House in 1989.
While not considered a technically skilled wrestler, Funk was known for his brawling tactics and engaged in several notable feuds during his career with esteemed opponents like "Handsome" Harley Race, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, and others.
Following a period of relative inactivity in the wrestling world, Funk resurfaced in the 1990s as part of the Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) series and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF),adopting the persona of "Chainsaw Charlie".
