Thomas Asbridge is a globally recognized authority on the historical development of the Middle Ages, and the author of two highly acclaimed books: "The Crusades: The War for the Holy Land" and "The First Crusade: A New History". He pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ancient and Medieval History at Cardiff University, and subsequently earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Medieval History at Royal Holloway, University of London. Currently, Thomas holds the position of Reader in Medieval History at Queen Mary, University of London, and serves as the director of the groundbreaking Master of Arts program in Islam & the West.
Thomas has written and presented a groundbreaking three-part documentary series, "The Crusades", for BBC Two, which was filmed on location across the Near East and Europe. He also developed and presented the documentary "The Crusader's Lost Fort" for BBC2's Timewatch strand, and has appeared in numerous other internationally broadcast television documentaries and radio programs. Furthermore, Thomas has worked as a historical consultant for HBO and Company Pictures.
