Tim Dang is a multifaceted individual with a career spanning over four decades, encompassing roles as a theater director and producer, arts administrator, cultural diversity and equity advocate, adjunct lecturer, writer, and performer.
Beginning his journey as an actor, he took to the stage at East West Players, making appearances on television episodes and continuing to lend his voice to various voiceover projects.
Throughout his illustrious career, Tim has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Zelda Fichandler Award from the Society of Directors and Choreographers for his transformative impact on the regional theatre arts landscape.
As producing artistic director emeritus of East West Players (EWP),Tim held the position for 23 years, overseeing the longest-running professional theatre of color in the United States until 2016. During his tenure, he produced and directed over 100 plays and musicals at EWP and other esteemed venues such as L.A. Theatre Works, PanAsian Repertory (NY),Geva Theater Center (NY),Perseverance Theatre (AK),Lewis Family Playhouse, Sierra Madre Playhouse (CA),and Singapore Repertory Theatre.
Additionally, Tim served as an LA County Arts Commissioner for four years, appointed by Supervisor Hilda Solis for District 1. He also co-chaired the Cultural Equity and Inclusion Initiative (CEII) for the LA County Board of Supervisors through the LA County Department of Arts and Culture and led the Arts and Culture sector for the Economic Resiliency Task Force during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, Tim dedicated six years as an adjunct lecturer at the USC School of Dramatic Arts, teaching directing and dramaturgy to emerging artists. He also prepared them for the audition process, industry business essentials, and networking at AMDA College for the Performing Arts.
