Tolulope "Tboy" Ogunmefun, a renowned comedian, was born and raised in the vibrant neighborhood of Hackney, East London. From a young age, Tolu's playful nature and penchant for being the class clown often found him at the center of attention. This trait led his parents to send him to school in Nigeria, where he spent a few formative years.
Upon his return to London, Tolu continued his education at St Bonaventure's school in Forest Gate, east London. His interest in sports, particularly basketball, remained strong, as he played for his school and college teams, and even had a brief stint with a team in Houston, Texas.
However, it was his return to London for a second time that marked the beginning of his journey as a comedian. One day, while hanging out with a friend in his university dorm, Tolu decided to create a comical rant video on a camera, starting with the now-iconic phrase "don't jealous me." His friend uploaded the video to Facebook, and it quickly went viral.
This unexpected success led Tolu to create the "DontJealousMe" comedy series, which began in 2008. What started as impromptu comical rants in front of a webcam evolved into a full-fledged web series featuring skits, parodies, and songs. The show's immense popularity has resulted in over 28 million views online and over 90,000 unique subscribers to his channel.
As his fan base continued to grow, Tolu embarked on tours across the US and UK, solidifying his position as one of the most sought-after African comedians.
