Biography

Tom Sullivan, a multifaceted individual known to many as an actor, singer, entertainer, author, and producer, has made a name for himself by living and working by his own set of rules, dubbed "Sullivan's Rules." One of his fundamental rules is that any negative circumstance can be turned into a positive.

Born prematurely in 1947, Tom's early life was marked by a series of challenges. He was given too much oxygen while in an incubator, which saved his life but left him blind. Despite this significant handicap, Tom has never let his disability hold him back from pursuing his passions.

In fact, Tom has consistently demonstrated that one need not be limited by a handicap. He has excelled in various activities, including golf, snow skiing, marathon running, and even professional wrestling, for which he has been inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Tom's early career was marked by a focus on music, as he began playing the piano in summer resorts in New England. He eventually gained national recognition with appearances on The Tonight Show, a major recording contract, and a steady stream of gigs in Las Vegas and resorts across the country.

However, Tom's limitless energy and ambition soon led him to explore other areas of the entertainment industry. In 1975, he co-wrote his autobiography, 'If You Could See What I Hear', with Derek Gill, which chronicled his college years at Providence College and Harvard, as well as his romance and marriage to his wife, Patty.

The book was later adapted into a major motion picture in 1982. Tom has since written over a dozen books, including works of fiction and non-fiction, such as 'Adventures in Darkness', which takes readers through his childhood in Boston and serves as an inspirational tale of his determination to realize his dreams of a "normal" life.

Tom has also had a successful career as a television personality, serving as a special correspondent for ABC's Good Morning America and acting in TV series such as Designing Women, Highway to Heaven, Fame, M*A*S*H, Mork & Mindy, and WKRP in Cincinnati. He has been nominated for two Emmy Awards and has written and developed many of the stories he has acted in.

Thanks to his public life, Tom has become one of America's most sought-after motivational speakers, communicating with over 3,000 corporations around the world.
