Tommy Davidson's remarkable career in stand-up comedy began in Washington D.C., where he earned a devoted following through his tireless efforts in various comedy clubs. As one of the cutting-edge young stand-ups, he was discovered by major concert promoters, who booked him as the opening act for renowned touring acts such as Patti LaBelle, Kenny G, and Luther Vandross.
Before long, Davidson made his way to Hollywood, where he performed stand-up at numerous clubs, including the Comedy Act Theatre, where he met Robert Townsend. This led to his first national television appearance, starring in the 2005 series "Partners in Crime," and ultimately introduced him to Keenen Ivory Wayans, who played a crucial role in Davidson's career by offering him the opportunity to audition and join the talented cast of the groundbreaking prime-time variety show "In Living Color" in 1990.
