Tony D. Head, a renowned actor, made a triumphant return to the New York City stage in 2014 after a 20-year hiatus from the entertainment industry. This remarkable comeback was made possible after he and his ex-partner successfully secured a safe and independent living environment for their special needs daughter, Layla, who required full-time care. During his time away from acting, Tony worked a full-time job and took on occasional roles while dedicating himself to finding the perfect living arrangement for his daughter.
In 2014, Tony's tireless efforts finally paid off, allowing him to rekindle his passion for acting. He then went on to feature in the critically acclaimed off-Broadway production of "Hounds of War" at the Abingdon Theatre. Tony has since appeared in numerous primetime series, including the hit HBO shows The Wire, The Corner, The Deuce, Veep, Law and Order: Special Victims, and FBI's Most Wanted.
Currently, Tony can be seen as a recurring actor in Tyler Perry's hit show ZATIMA and the upcoming Starz series THREE WOMEN, alongside Shailene Woodley, Dewanda Wise, Blair Underwood, and Betty Gilpin. He will also be featured in the upcoming FX series AMERICAN SPORTS STORY. On the film side, Tony has appeared in notable projects such as JOKER, LAZY SUSAN, MAYA AND HER LOVER, A NEW YORK CHRISTMAS WEDDING, and THEY TURNED US INTO KILLERS.
In addition to his acting career, Tony has ventured into writing and producing. In 2020, he wrote and produced the award-winning film THE CASE, which has garnered over 50 awards worldwide and is currently being developed for television. Tony currently resides in Manhattan, New York.
