Torrey Joël DeVitto is a talented actress, advocate, philanthropist, and producer, best recognized for her six-season stint on NBC's "Chicago Med" as Dr. Natalie Manning, the "girl next door" and a pediatrician in the ER.
Born and raised in Huntington, New York, to Mary and Liberty DeVitto, Torrey was immersed in the entertainment industry from a young age. Her father, Liberty, played drums for Billy Joel for 28 years, and Torrey spent most of her childhood traveling with her parents. By the time she could walk, her heart was in the music and acting world.
Torrey began violin lessons at age six and was already the 4th chair violinist in a New York high school orchestra by the 4th grade. She later played the violin at a show featuring Tommy Davidson and was backed by Brian McKnight's band. Torrey also studied dance with the Kings Park Dance Center in New York and started working in commercials and modeling by 15.
Throughout her career, Torrey has accumulated numerous credits in television and film. She is perhaps best known for her roles in "The Vampire Diaries" as Meredith Fell, "Pretty Little Liars" as Melissa, and "One Tree Hill" as Carrie. Her other notable roles include Alexandra on the MTV pilot "Alexandra the Great," Melissa on ABC Family's "Beautiful People," and guest appearances on "Scrubs," "Dawson's Creek," "The King of Queens," "Drake & Josh," "CSI: Miami," and "Castle."
Torrey has also made a name for herself in the music world, playing violin at a show with the Tommy Davidson Band, being featured on Raphael Saadiq's album "Ray Ray," and performing with her father on stage to standing ovations. She has also released a song called "You've Been Through" for a PSA about drug and alcohol abuse.
As an advocate for women's safety, health, and rights, Torrey is a board member of SafeBAE, a spokesperson and ambassador for the NHPCO, and an outspoken advocate for reproductive rights. She has spoken at Planned Parenthood's Bans Off Our Bodies virtual rally, attended The Women's Convention, and shared her own abortion story in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.
Torrey is also an advocate for animals and supports organizations such as PETA, IMAlive, The Humane Society of the United States, and PAWS adoption in Chicago. She splits her time between Chicago and her farm in Michigan, where she dotes on her dogs Beau and Homie.
