Trieu Tran is a multifaceted individual with a diverse range of talents and interests. Born in Vietnam, he immigrated to Canada and spent his formative years in Boston, Massachusetts, where he developed a strong sense of identity and a deep connection to the city. He holds dual citizenship of Canada and the United States, a testament to his ability to navigate and thrive in different cultures.
As an actor, Trieu has appeared in numerous theatrical productions throughout his career. One of his most notable roles was as Alan Strang in the production of Equus, which earned him a LADCC nomination. He has also starred in the title role of Oedipus The King in Portland and The Legacy Codes with TheatreWorks, for which he received the Dean Goodman Award.
Trieu's film credits include Tropic Thunder, Trade of Innocents, How High, Hancock, Desperation, and Last Call. On television, he is currently a series regular on Netflix's Altered Carbon, where he plays the role of the fixer Mister Leung. His other television credits include The Newsroom, Intruders, Men At Work, Quickdraw, and Malcolm in the Middle.
In addition to his acting career, Trieu is a writer and co-authored the solo play Uncle Ho to Uncle Sam with Robert Egan. The play premiered at the Ojai Playwrights Conference in 2011 and went on to have successful runs at Seattle ACT, The Kirk Douglas Theatre, Shakespeare Orange County, and PlayMakers Rep.
Trieu is also an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts, and is a die-hard fan of the Boston Red Sox. He is a self-proclaimed lover of Boston Terriers, and his best friend Captain is a beloved constant companion.
