Tru Collins, a multifaceted American actress and indie-pop singer, was born in Richmond, Virginia to a family of accomplished professionals. Her father, Reid Collins, is a five-time Emmy award-winning television journalist, while her mother, Lindy Fisher, is a skilled choreographer.
From a young age, Collins was drawn to the performing arts, and at 15, she enrolled in Manhattan's Professional Performing Arts School to hone her skills. She also studied ballet with Elaine Kudo, a renowned instructor from the School of American Ballet, affiliated with the American Ballet Theatre.
Collins' academic pursuits continued with a songwriting scholarship from Universal, which enabled her to attend both New York University and the New School University in New York City. Her collegiate experience provided a solid foundation for her future endeavors in music and acting.
In addition to her academic achievements, Collins has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. She has guest-starred on Showtime's critically acclaimed series "Masters of Sex," opposite Michael Sheen, and recurred as Julie on MTV's popular show "Awkward" for five seasons.

In 2010, Collins became a vocalist for the multi-platinum progressive rock band Trans-Siberian Orchestra, touring extensively across North America and performing acoustic guitar/vocal solos on numerous rock radio stations. The band's 2010 tour reached #12 on the Billboard chart for American Arena Tours, surpassing the likes of Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, and grossed a staggering $47,395,108, selling out 51 arenas.
Collins has also collaborated with various artists, including Rostrum Records' Vali and 3 Six Mafia's Juicy J, and has had her work featured on various recordings and television soundtracks. In 2012, she performed with DJ Ravi Drums, Kitara player Craig Dobbin, and rapper Wes Period at the Air Canada Center Arena in Toronto, Canada.
In 2015, Collins joined Steven Seagal's blues band Thunderbox for a European tour and performed with the legendary George Benson at the Cognac Blues Festival in Cognac, France. Her debut solo EP, "Story of A Gypsy Child," was produced by Jonny on the Rocks from Toronto, and her music video for the first single, "Party Dress," was released via YouTube in February 2015.
