Wayne Pyle's journey in the world of acting began at the tender age of four, when he made his debut on the Philadelphia affiliate of the beloved children's television program "Romper Room".
As he grew older, Pyle's passion for acting only intensified, and he went on to train as an apprentice at the prestigious Actors Theatre of Louisville apprenticeship program. During his time at the program, he rubbed shoulders with other talented actors, including Rob Campbell, Kevin Farrel, Matt Greenberg, Del Pentecost, Heidi Swedberg, and Pamela Stewart, to name a few.
After honing his craft in Louisville, Pyle made the move to Chicago, where he immersed himself in the city's vibrant theatre, film, and television community. He quickly landed a series regular role on the CBS affiliate WBBM's "The Magic Door", a children's television program that was produced in the same studio as the iconic "At the Movies" with Siskel and Ebert.
Pyle's academic pursuits took him to the University of Delaware's Professional Theatre Training Program, also known as the P.T.T.P., where he earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in acting in 1995. During his three years at the program, he had the opportunity to perform in Shakespeare festivals across the country and internationally.
Following his graduation, Pyle founded the American Shakespeare Theatre Company and went on to produce and appear in a national tour of Taiwan with a production of "Hamlet" in 2000. He also co-produced a documentary about the experience, titled "Within a Play", which premiered on the Sundance Channel.
In addition to his work with the American Shakespeare Theatre Company, Pyle has worked with the improvisational comedy group ComedySportz in Philadelphia and has appeared in small background roles in films such as Unbreakable. He has also been involved in regional theatre productions, including a stint in the first National Tour of Disney's "The Lion King", where he played the role of Ed the hyena and covered Timon and Zazu in 2001.
After five years of touring with "The Lion King", Pyle settled in the Hudson Valley in New York in 2008, where he became part of a close-knit community of filmmakers and theatre artists with strong ties to New York City, Kingston, Newburgh, and Albany. He married his wife, Heidi Eklund, a casting director at Hudson Valley Casting, and the couple had a son in 2010.
Today, Pyle is an accomplished actor with a diverse range of credits in independent films, theatre, and television. He is also an acting coach, writer, and director, and hosts the popular podcast "Hudson Valley Casting Call", which focuses on the world of acting in the Hudson Valley.
