William Moody, a multifaceted individual, began his educational journey at Mobile's Catholic School, later graduating from the esteemed McGill Institute.
As he navigated his early years, Moody's passion for wrestling led him to become a regular at Gulf Coast Wrestling events in Mobile, Alabama. He forged connections with various wrestlers and front office personnel, eventually becoming a ringside photographer.
Initially, Moody started his career as a wrestler, making his debut in June 1974 as "Mr. X" under a mask in Greenville, Alabama. He later continued to wrestle as "The Embalmer".
In April 1977, Moody embarked on a new path as a manager, adopting the persona of Percy Pringle III. This period in his life was marked by his marriage to Dianna, with whom he welcomed their son Michael in 1979. Moody temporarily left the wrestling world to pursue further education and earned his Funeral Director/Embalmer's Certification from San Antonio College.
In 1984, Moody returned to the world of wrestling as Percy Pringle, working for Fritz von Erich's World Class Wrestling Association. During this time, he managed notable figures such as Rick Rude, Blackjack Mulligan, The Great Kabuki, Lex Luger, and even Steve Austin.
On December 22, 1990, Moody joined the World Wrestling Federation, adopting the persona of "Paul Bearer". He was tasked with managing the Undertaker, a role he held for ten years. Throughout his tenure, Moody also managed Kane and Mankind (Mick Foley) and worked as a road agent when not appearing on television.
In 2001, Moody's wife Dianna was diagnosed with breast cancer, prompting him to scale back his commitments with the WWE to care for her. He ultimately left the company in late 2002 when his contract expired.
After his departure from the WWE, Moody made sporadic appearances with NWA Total Nonstop Action as Percy Pringle. When the Undertaker revived his "deadman" gimmick at Wrestlemania 20, Moody reunited with him as Paul Bearer. However, the storyline eventually concluded, and Moody left the WWE once more, at least in terms of television appearances.
Moody's personal life is marked by his marriage to Dianna and the birth of their two sons, Michael and Daniel.
