Biography

William Wedig was born in 1983 in Marietta, Ohio. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. His work has been showcased in various mediums, including theaters, television, digital platforms, and film festivals such as Sundance and the Toronto International Film Festival.

After working on over a dozen feature films with the Crook Brothers and directing and editing two of his own, Wedig's feature film "Forged" won several awards, including Best Film at the HBO Latino Film Festival in 2011 and the Outstanding Film Award at the Providence Latin America Film Festival. "Forged" is an action-drama that stars Manny Perez and Margo Martindale. The film received praise from David Goldstein of The New York Times, who described it as "nasty, brutish and short, in all the best ways."

Wedig's latest short film, Bygones, won the Best Comedy Short Film award at the 2019 Coney Island Film Festival. His screenplay, The Devil's Chasing Me, co-written with Zach Brown, Brian Cange, and Marcus Hanh, was a semi-finalist in the 2020 Final Draft Big Break Screenplay contest.

In addition to his work in film, Wedig also directed 24 episodes of the half-live-action, half-animated show "Team Toon" for Cartoon Network and FremantleMedia. The show premiered on Amazon Prime in the UK and later aired on Netflix. "Team Toon" stars Meg Donnelly, who is known for her roles in "Zombies!" and "American Housewife."

Wedig recently co-wrote the feature screenplay "Evergreen" with his long-time writing partner, BAFTA-nominated Jeff Wolverton. The screenplay was accepted to the IFP hosted Filmshop event "The Breakthrough Series" in Brooklyn, New York.

Throughout his career, Wedig has directed and co-directed several projects, including the feature film "Rise of the Dead," which was distributed by Lions Gate Home Entertainment, and the TV special "Exposure: Sports Illustrated Swimsuit," which featured Kate Upton, Irina Shayk, and other supermodels. He has also worked on the music series "Noisemakers On Noisevox," which featured interviews with Lady Gaga, Moby, and other renowned musicians.

William Wedig is currently bi-coastal, splitting his time between Brooklyn and Los Angeles with his wife, Alicia Santana, a fashion stylist and casting director.
