Biography

Yves Lecoq, born Yves Louis Georges Lecoquierre on May 4, 1946, is a renowned French humorist, celebrated for his remarkable voice impersonations.

Growing up in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, within a bourgeois francilian family, Lecoq was exposed to the world of comedy at a young age. Despite his parents' aspirations for him to pursue a career as a lawyer or journalist, he instead followed his passion for the theater, starting at the age of 16.

During his studies at the Lycée Georges Clémenceau in Nantes, Lecoq made his stage debut in 1965. His early interest in comedy led him to explore various roles, eventually becoming a skilled performer.

Throughout the 1980s, Lecoq hosted several television programs, including Suivez Lecoq (1980-1981),L'académie des neuf (1987-1991 on Antenne 2),and Tout le monde il est gentil (1989-1990 on La Cinq). He also had the honor of hosting the Miss France contest in 1990 and 1991 on FR3.

From September 1988 to June 2018, Lecoq was the primary vocal impersonator of Les Guignols de l'info, broadcast on Canal+, where he lent his voice to the puppet of show's host Patrick Poivre d'Arvor, as well as nearly 200 other public figures. His impressive impression of former French President Jacques Chirac, one of the show's most beloved caricatures, significantly contributed to Lecoq's widespread recognition.

Lecoq has also participated in the annual concerts of Les Enfoirés from 1994 to 2000, as well as in 2005. Additionally, he has presented various programs, such as Graines de star in 1996 and 1997 on M6, and Les Grands du Rire on France 3 since 2005.

In 2019, Lecoq took part in the French adaptation of the popular Masked Singer TV franchise, embodying the character Dino. Although he was eliminated in the fourth episode, aired on November 29, 2019, his unmasking came as a surprise to both the panelists and the live audience.

Lecoq is also an avid collector of châteaux, owning the Château de Chambes in Roumazières-Loubert, Charente, since 2008. He also acquired the Château de Chalais in the same department in December 2011. Furthermore, he is the proud owner of the Château de Maisonseule in Saint-Basile, Ardèche.
