A young man, Baskaran, lives with his family, including his unemployed older brother, who is still unmarried at 45. When his brother falls in love and gets married, Baskaran finds himself smitten with the sister-in-law, Chandrika. His best friend, Nallathambi, helps him navigate his feelings and even assists in wooing Chandrika. However, when Baskaran asks for Chandrika's hand in marriage, her father and sister-in-law oppose the union due to his lack of a college degree and employment. The second half of the film follows Baskaran's journey to win Chandrika and overcome the obstacles in their path.
