A lone Autobot, Bumblebee, takes shelter in a California beach town junkyard in 1987, only to discover an unlikely friendship with Charlie Watson, an 18-year-old struggling to find her place in the world.
The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are on the brink of defeat in the Great Cybertronian War. To counter this, Optimus sends a young scout, B-127, to Earth to establish a new base of operations.
