I Am Somebody's Child: The Regina Louise Story

A young black girl, Regina Louise, finds solace and belonging in a foster home, where she forms a strong bond with her kind white counselor, Jeanne Kerr, who helps her overcome anger issues and ultimately secure adoption, leading to a stable and loving home.

Regina Louise, a young Black girl, is placed in a foster home where she struggles with anger issues. Despite her tough exterior, she forms a strong bond with Jeanne Kerr, a kind-hearted white counselor who empathizes with her. Together, they submit a petition for adoption, but the home's director, a Black woman, objects, believing a Black child cannot be raised by a white woman. The judge agrees, and Regina is sent to a private institution, where Jeanne's letters to her are withheld. Years later, when Regina turns 18, she is released with no support, but finds solace in Jeanne's letters, which had been kept from her.
