Emily James, a former figure skater, has been out of the public eye for eight years after quitting competitively without explanation. She now lives in Lakeville, Michigan, working as a waitress and teaching group skating to children. Emily's passion for skating never faded, and she continues to skate daily before the rink opens. Her past pupil, Nikki Lee, is now a rising star in figure skating, and her new coach, Spencer Patterson, has hired Emily as his co-coach and her own coach to help her regain her former glory. As Emily trains again, she faces personal struggles and an unexpected attraction to Spencer.
