Two adult friends, Maggie and Jack, co-host a popular local radio show offering dating advice, having grown up as family friends. Their boss plans to sell the show to a national network, and as a condition, Maggie and Jack must introduce their significant others to their families on a live New Year's Eve special. To save their friend's struggling jazz club, they agree to host the event there, but when both are dumped, they come up with a plan to pretend to be a couple and surprise their listeners with a midnight kiss on New Year's Eve.
