A lonely 10-year-old boy named Danny lives with his Aunt Teddie, a wealthy entrepreneur, and her boyfriend Phillip. Danny finds solace in his aunt's vast land, known as Deep Well, which is believed to hold hidden gold. One day, he discovers an ancient cave, the legendary prison of Atlas, a mythological demigod who holds the world on his shoulders.
