Belgian detective Hercule Poirot boards the luxurious Orient Express, seeking to return to London. When a murder occurs on board, Poirot agrees to investigate, despite the delay caused by the train's sudden stop due to snow in Yugoslavia. As he questions the passengers and staff, he uncovers a complex web of motives and opportunities, leading him to suspect that the victim was not who he seemed to be. The case is further complicated by a connection to a five-year-old American kidnapping and murder, with a convicted murderer and an accomplice still at large.
