In 1850, a British garrison defends Fort Kandahar in British India. Lieutenant Case, a mixed-race officer, is despised by his commander and fellow officers due to his native heritage. He's used by the British to infiltrate local tribes, but his spying mission goes awry, and he's accused of abandoning a fellow officer and cowardice. After being court-martialed and imprisoned, Case is freed by his native servant, who reveals he's a spy for the rebel leader Ali Khan. Case joins Khan's rebellion, training his troops and fighting against the British.
