In the midst of the Civil War, a horse dealer named Joan Britton and her competitor Stephen Cook supply horses to the Union Army in Wyoming Territory. However, their rivalry takes a deadly turn when Cook steals a herd of Sioux horses, sparking tensions between the Union and the Sioux. Enter Jonathan Westgate, a former army doctor, who becomes Cook's rival for Joan's affections and must stop Cook's corrupt activities to prevent a new war with the Sioux.
