In this film, FBI Director Jack Devine uses his brother Joe as an undercover agent to infiltrate the mob. Joe's latest cover is as a movie producer, with the goal of gathering evidence against Tommy Sanz for Teamster racketeering. To maintain his cover, Joe needs a script, which is provided by Steven Schats and his brother Marshall, who wrote a supposed cancer biopic. Steven is then hired as the director, fulfilling his lifelong dream, even if the production faces challenges when filming an Arizona desert drama in Rhode Island. The cover becomes increasingly complicated when a former Oscar nominee agrees to star, leading everyone to believe in the film's authenticity, including the FBI brass.
