Albert's horse Joey is sold to the Cavalry, and as the First World War breaks out, Joey embarks on a treacherous journey across war-torn Europe to survive. Meanwhile, Albert joins the British Army, gets wounded in the Battle of the Somme, and later learns about a horse found in no man's land while recovering in hospital.
