David Thewlis was born David Wheeler in the year 1963 in the seaside town of Blackpool, Lancashire, to Maureen Thewlis and Alec Raymond Wheeler. During his childhood, he resided with his parents above their unique combination wallpaper and toy shop, which was a fascinating and unconventional environment.

Since then, David has appeared in a wide range of films, including the fantasy adventure DragonHeart in 1996, the period drama Restoration in 1995, and the family-friendly film Black Beauty in 1994. He also portrayed the beloved character Professor Remus John Lupin in the Harry Potter franchise, specifically in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 2004 and its subsequent sequels.
In recent years, David has continued to impress audiences with his versatility and range, starring in the third season of the FX series Fargo in 2014.
On a personal note, David was in a long-term relationship with British actress Anna Friel from 2001 to 2010, and the couple shares a beautiful daughter, Gracie Ellen Mary, who was born on July 9, 2005.
