The Three Mesquiteers, a trio of former Confederate soldiers, return to Texas after the Civil War and become embroiled in a conflict between rival factions, the carpetbaggers and bushwhackers. As they investigate, they discover that the bushwhackers are actually local ranchers and citizens being exploited by a corrupt army official and his captain. The Mesquiteers decide to join the group, sans uniforms, and work from within to expose the gang and bring them to justice.
