Two newly partnered NYPD homicide detectives, Tom Chaney and Rod Lambeau, investigate the murders of two men who were previously charged with violent sexual assault. The victims were poisoned and their hair was cut in a ritualistic manner. The detectives suspect District Attorney Katy Wesson, who was the prosecutor in both cases and is deaf, as she is accompanied by her interpreter and protector, Josh Kane. As Tom and Katy begin a romantic relationship, their colleagues become increasingly suspicious, especially Rod, who is convinced that Katy is the killer.
