Dear John

John, a shipmaster, regularly visits a small harbor to buy food from Anna's father, a waitress who has a young daughter. They've met many times, but their first personal encounter is when they both go swimming in the early morning. John is invited to join Anna's family for coffee, and he takes her and her daughter on a trip to the Copenhagen Zoo. As they spend more time together, they develop genuine feelings for each other. The movie features heartwarming family scenes and romantic moments, with Christina Schollin's nudity being tasteful and never gratuitous. The story is set against the backdrop of societal attitudes towards women at the time, where girls who "gave in" too quickly were often judged.
